MEXICO
CITY (AP) — Mexico's federal
attorney general said Thursday that more than
1,000 people have been killed in drug violence
so far this year, but that he believes the worst
is nearly over.
In an
interview with The Associated Press, Attorney
General Eduardo Medina Mora also said that 6,290
people were killed last year — the most specific
government accounting yet of drug killings that
doubled the 2007 toll. MORE...

PSC; The most dangerous job in the world, in the most
dangerous location in the world. After the first Gulf War the US military went
through a massive reduction in force, leaving
hundreds of thousands of soldiers without
employment. Many of them went on to do
what they knew best: providing security or
training others to do the same. After the Sept.11
attacks business for these small firms exploded,
but it was the occupation of Iraq that brought
explosive growth to this young industry. America
simply doesn’t have a military that can
support long term or multiple conflicts around
the world. The answer; Private Military
Contractors.

CONTRACTORS OUTNUMBER TROOPS: There are 196,000
contract employees working for the Defense
Department in Iraq and Afghanistan.
PMC’s
& PSC's are about more than a few thousand
'security guards' protecting VIP’s and foreign
corporate personnel. They
are highly trained and extreme professionals.
An estimated 20,000 contractors do
security work. Of these, 6,000 are in armed
tactical roles, protecting important
installations such as corporate enclaves, U.S.
facilities, and the Green Zone in Baghdad and
guarding key Iraqi and U.S. officials. The
remaining 100,000 contractors help rebuild oil
pipelines, electricity grids and other critical
infrastructures.
Private
Security Contractors have suffered an estimated 444
deaths, with total Contractor death at
1073, and thousands more wounded in Iraq --
more than any single U.S. Army division and more
than the rest of the coalition combined. This
site is dedicated to supporting our contractors
overseas.

Some gave all."
